Together, We’re Stronger in México

In the 19th century, after gaining independence from Spain in 1821, Mexico made a notable decision to reject and ultimately abolish African slavery. In 1829, under President Vicente Guerrero, of African descent himself, Mexico formally abolished slavery, offering freedom to enslaved africans escaping their oppressors.

Today, this legacy of courage and solidarity inspires our movement, as we continue to honor these historic steps toward freedom and strive to build inclusive communities rooted in justice and unity.
